Chopin butterfly etude November 11, 2007, 05:28:42 AM by chopinisque

Hello, I just want to ask if I should play the staccatos in this piece from the wrist or arm(elbow?). Staccato from the arms is much more tiring. So I was thinking that I should lift from the wrists instead. Or should I use a mix?
Also, should I keep the accents/stresses for the strong beats as written at the strat throughout the whole thing or should I leave them out for the > and < bits?
Thanks!

Chopin Butterfly Etude Op. 25, No. 9 June 13, 2007, 05:26:03 AM by ryan2189

I have been playing this piece for quite some time now, and I feel as though the last step that is preventing me from playing this piece well is the tension that I feel each time I strike the pattern with the two consecutive octaves. I sometimes go in and out with being relaxed and then eventuyally tense up again. I can't really grasp what I am missing here, but maybe some others have had a similar problem. I have tried to understand the relaxation concept more, but I literally can't "touch" on it yet. The legato phrasing is something I am good at, but trying to flop my hands around to hit octaves is something completely different. I want to say that I have successfully completed a Chopin Etude and I don't want to back away from this one without giving it my all.

Hey guys...
iv been learning this etude as i love it and im finding it ok to play,,apart from the pedalling.now im self taught over last four years so there probably techneques ive not learnt due to having no teacher..
but how does one tackle this piece, and how do you pedal the etude....
to me its a simple base accompanied by broken chords in the right hand and two octaves but to much peddalling gives a blur effect..
any tips please.. and for the peice alone
thanks all
