Audition Room: Recordings with my brand new SAMSON C01U Mic (Rach, Chop, Beet) by hummel
I've just recorded Rachmaninoff - Prelude in G Sharp Minor with my new mic on the recently tuned piano at my parents'. In addition, I recorded some snipplets of Appassionata and Chopin Ballad #4 and so I am curious about whether you think that I've improved my playing since my concert I gave in Spring 2007 (see http://www.youtube.com/user/hummelalkan).

(Please forgive me the occasional mistakes and the background noise)

Thank you and all the best,
Hummel

What is your favorite recording of the Chopin F minor Ballade?  I have Andrewevski, Horowitz, Perriah, and Zimmerman.  Zimmerman is my favorite of these.

I'd like to have some of these...preferably 1, 3 and 4, but if 2 is all you have...then 2 is welcome!
Audition Room: Chopin Ballade No. 4 in F minor Op. 52 by jlh
Ok, I've got 2.5 weeks to get this to performance quality...

There are a few spots I screwed up on this recording, and I'm still working on getting the coda fluent.  I would love suggestions!

Sorry for the poor audio quality... wish I had a better mic!!  It has a hard time with dynamics (and so do I sometimes).

Repertoire: Chopin Ballade No. 4 by pianalytical
I don't know if this is the right place to post this question, but...

I have both the Paderewski (Dover) and Peters Edition of this Ballade (no. 4). When I compare them, bars 72-73 are quite different. The notes in the back of the Paderewski Edition suggests that "the most generally accepted version" is not the version they actually use, but the version that happens to be in the Peters Edition.

What version should I use?

Also, as a general rule, do most pianists use Paderewski or Peters or some other edition for Chopin?

Thanks.

Chopin Ballade 1, 4.
Yann Tiersen : Most of his works, even though they might all sound similar to each other :-p.
