well, I got this piece the other day and I wondered if you could offer any tips on it because I can't seem to maintain the speed well due to the arpeggiated and big chords.

Scriabin's a crazy man, I tell you! :P

Student's Corner: [First Year Student Critique] Scriabin Op.2 No.1 and Prelude Op.11 IX by mekohler
Im 24, been playing for 10 months. Have a Russian concert pianist teacher in NYC. Decided to record myself today and randomly played these 2 songs. They're both one take and I know I got some fudged up notes on the Op2. No.1. I think it sounds shitty, the piano sound itself as well as the dynamics. I dunno, maybe its the lack of professional recording. Anyway, comments and suggestions needed/welcome.

Audition Room: [Critique Please] Scriabin Op.2 No.1 and Prelude Op.11 IX by mekohler
Hey, this is my first post. Been playing for 10 months, and taking lessons from a Russian concert pianist in NYC. I decided to record today after feeling like I keep sucking more. The recording quality is not ideal, and the piano sounds shitty with my mic and I'm not please with the recordings at all. Was looking for any comments or suggestions. In the Op.2 No.1 I know I mess up some notes, I was nervous. Bleh!
Student's Corner: Scriabin - op.2, no.1; what is it studying? by elegie
I consider to learn this Etude. But what techniques does it really study, and how difficult is this etude?

Recorded today.  Piano was just tuned, and the hammers reshaped a bit.  The scale is now more even between the bichord / trichord break.  The tone changed a bit as a result, much more rounded.  The una-corda doesn't have as pronounced effect as before, I'm guessing as there is less a difference between the compacted areas of felt on the hammers.

Also for the Scriabin my friend redid it a bit and so it sounds less home recorded ish.
Student's Corner: Scriabin's Etude in C# minor, op. 2 no. 1 by Mosis
I have started learning this piece, and I'm making quite some progress. I have half of it memorized already, and it is sounding good...

... hands and voices sepereately, that is.  :-\

I cannot bring out the RH melody and keep the chords even. The chords are either loud, arpeggiated, or the melody is bashed out, or not heard at all. I am struggling with this, and although I'm sure this is what the etude is teaching, I do not know how to go about learning it.

I also find the fact that there are no slurs on the score to be peculiar. Listening to a recording, one can figure out the logical phrases and musical lines, but nothing was notated. What did Scriabin intend with his whacky time signature and utter lack of phrasing and articulation?
