Hello and a belated new year greeting to everyone. Sorry to say that I have been ill since January and have been unable to play for the first six weeks of the year. I am pleased to say that things are now more or less back to normal and that practice has been resumed.
I am posting this attempt at Mozart in order to invite comments and constructive criticism as I find capturing the spirit of Mozart quite difficult.
I look forward to any comments.
Best wishes

Hi
This is not part of a duel as I cannot hope to play to the standard of some of you good people out there. The problem for me with this work is to get it to sound like Mozart. How does one obatin the necessary lightness and shimmering effect? I feel that the first movement is too heavy especilly in the bass (I am also aware of one or two small glitches but this was take 1).
I feel that the slow mvt is somewhat more successful but capable of improvement.
All advice welcome.
Thanks

Hi,
I am posting this for my son who just turned 11. In less than 2 weeks he will audition for a national piano festival to be held early February/07. Since it is the 250th for Mozart, the organizers would prefer his compositions. A spur of the moment decision to enter was made early November or barely six weeks ago; but his teacher says he is psychologically strong, has good drive and skills and the experience will do him well.
Although, the 3 movements will be played if he qualifies in the 11-14 age bracket, he will only be required to play one movement in the audition. May we request some constructive comments in order to improve his chances or are we rushing this a bit? Btw, he is a fast learner and has the 3 movements memorized and played fairly well (I think) at this time.
Thanks a lot and I will ask him to answer any question you may want answered.
Here is the 1st movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmQ1qTwb0tw

Hi all! I'm going to post my second recording here (first recording was my chopin nocturne op 9 no 2 in this old topic).
My new recording is: Mozart Sonata in C major K.330, 1st movement Played on Kawai CA7 digital piano.
I thought I played this pretty much error free (that is: error free for my own simple standards! a piece is never perfect of course...). However, it's amazing how many unexpected things I hear when listening to a recording from myself (sometimes it's even frustrating...).
Anyhow, I'm very interested to hear your comments! :) |
I've just been listening to Mozart's Piano Sonata is C major, K330, and am speechless at its beauty (Horowitz' recording). I'd like to learn some Mozart, but am looking for something that is simpler, say Grade 5ish. Some of the simpler pieces that I've heard are rather dull (perhaps written when he was really young), but I'm sure that he has something that is easy and beautiful. I'm not sure that I'm ready to tackle a Sonata, but would be willing to give one of them a try as well. I've seen posts on "easy" Mozart and "great" Mozart, but not combined.
I mean, of course, technically easier. It appears all of his music is musically challenging.
Thanks.

I absolutely love the first movement. However I am having difficulty playing this passage at speed, or even half speed for that matter.
The passage is at the end of the 1st movement.
Does anyone know how to play this properly? The edition I have suggests to play the trill as F-G-F-E-F but it seems too difficult to play this at speed and suddenly have to slow down as you play the E-F-G after the trill. Also some recordings I have heard don't seem to play this trill as written above. Does anyone know how to play this one? |
I am doing Grade 8 ABRSM next June and i am still confused between what piece to choose from list B. I am confused between the Mozart K.330 in C and the Beethoven Op.90 in E minor.
Note that here i am not choosing on the basis of which is more difficult. I want to choose the one that will be a good addition to my repertoire. That, is i plan of not learning the first movement only for the exam. I am planning to learn the whole thing. So, it is a question of which sonata is more beneficial as an addition to my repertoire.
My repertoire already includes a Mozart sonata and a Beethoven sonata. The K.545 and the Pathetique ( all 3 movements ). So, do u think i should learn a harder Mozart sonata (K.330) or another Beethoven sonata so that my repertoire includes 2 beethoven sonatas ?? |
