I was upset the other day so I decided to do some improv.  I wanted to focus on very percussive sounds and direct my rage through them.  I gathered a whole bunch of percussive sounding materials near the piano.  They included: an assortment of wooden sticks of various sizes, a plastic stirring rod, sheet metal box, metal serving tray, metal food container with lid that sounds like a bell, baby rattle, plastic hair brush, paint brush, foam paint brush, empty plastic dish soap dispenser.

I threw some items into the piano and random times and experimented on what that would accomplish.

My Studio Projects mics are just too kind.  The recording didn't come out as harsh and revolting as it sounded in person.

As some TV programs state: Please do not try this at home.  I cannot be held responsibe for any emotional suffering your piano may receive.

Yeah man, I can dig it.....ah feels the beauty of the rage.....yeh........ Cool

Seriously this is great. You have a real understanding of this idiom, there was a real structure in your improv, your themes/ideas and sounds going back and forth, and you juxtaposed them skillfully. I would love to hear your interpretations of Cage's prepared piano pieces, or of Cowell's works and more of YOU!. I enjoyed this very much, excellent music.  Cheesy

i feel better already.  i laughed at the beginning when you said 'somewhat prepared piano.'  and, then when you said what you were using, i tried to listen for each of the instruments.  the only part that had me worried was dropping things on the strings and hitting them - but you seem to have enough restraint until the end.  poor piano at the end - it's begging for mercy.  the bell tolls.  but, what now - the strings are all loose?  it sounds like the piano is really damaged now.  do you have insurance on it?  (what's the whipping about?)  oh dear.  this is terrible - the piano's in a washing machine.  the bell tolls again.  this is a slow death here.  more and more strings are coming loose.  and the whippings are unbearable.  this is torture to a piano.

this is gitmo for pianos.
