My piano teacher gave me this piece by Schumann...It is called Knave Rupert (Knecht Ruprecht). Op.68,No.12, I am not having any problems with it until i get to the part where the tempo chages into tranquillo which i am struggling with. I know the notes and all, but my fingers tend to curl when i try to play the measures. It is getting very annoying . I want to know if anyone else is having this problem too, or can give me some advice,PLEASE!!!.

tempo changes to tranquil and your fingers curl? are you on drugs? try leaning back and imagine rupert is not knaving at that point.

They are not literaliy curled they are not positioning correctly as i want them to, to hit the keys accurately, and that is when i tend to miss the right keys.

I may be familiar with the problem of which you speak, for I too had had similar problem, especially when playing one Czerny repeated notes etude. I don't exactly remember how I got it right, but I did. This is definately a serious problem if not fixed, because the fingers won't have much support. My advice is, carefully consider every note to make sure that the fingers don't curl too much. Don't play with flat fingers too. I assume you study with a teacher, the problem will be fixed. As for what I have to say, I had the similar problem, but upon carefull practice I got it right. Watch and listen to every note as you play. Hope this helps.

I've taught this piece so many times it's not funny! What bars? What fingering are you using?

Well it doesnt really have a lot of fingering numbers on it but it is the 25 measure i think, and the tempo changes to tranquillo.
