Star Wars paraphrase played by Finale
on: April 10, 2006, 11:46:13 AM
hey people,

I posted in the repertoire topics a few pages of my new Star Wars parafrase (John Williams meets Liszt)

I'm currently studying it, but it's quite long (about 11')
For the curious people here's a version played by my computer... the first 4 pages you can find in the repertoire topic.

Comments greatly appreciated (on the piece plz, not on the playing quality -> it is a computer!!)

Grtz, Joost

by the sound of it, you did. coz it says "MY new Star Wars... "

but then, how can you be studying it?

I like it, though.

absolutely brilliant!!!  :D i've been wanting to do that for over a year but have never been able to get it started. i got the john williams book but it was really very basic. this was really great. please publish it fast so that i can get a copy and start working on it. it needs to be speeded up a bit, but its awesome!!! CONGRATS.  :D

Have you got the last section of star wars episode 3 revenge of the sith,if you listen to classic fm (England) you will know what I mean :)

Its such a long piece but brilliant in every way. Perhaps you can tell

By the way I loved it.

Try it on a digital with orchestral settings; I am amazed you did this so so so so good.

I absollutely love star wars by the way :)

You are totaly capable of reproducing the entire sound track (layer upon layer) :)

Now the only question which remains is are you a bigger Star Wars fan than me ;D

awesome... midi.  :(

as I said, live performance will follow soon (end of may). midi was just to give a sounding idea. I'm practicing it but for the moment my attention has to go to some very nice (i'm being sarcastic here) serial contemporary works ...cough (ugly) cough.... :) which I have to play in the beginning of may.

I like starwars, gorbee, but I like other movie soundtracks as well, so let me announce upcoming transcriptions of Alladin and the Godfather.... anyone got other idea's? I'd like to try to make a whole recitalpart (so +- 40 min) with movietranscriptions;

Joost

What you've done is really great stuff!!!

:o really impressed!!! I made my brother and sister listen to it (they are also star wars fans as well as classical freaks - killer combination  ;) - and they loved it!!!

well done!

PS: was this meant as some school project or something?
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
