It's a bit erm poncy, whats with the dodgey captions that go with the videos? Wearing a tux in an empty room is just about acceptable I guess but why do you play in gloves? that's insane

did he get ;aughed out of the forum? I thought it was cute in a cheesy way. The gloves and the piano, no idea how THAT works but obviously that's his thing like Britany Spears has her Skany turned trailer park mom look. A tux is far more pleasant to look at.
The hair is as little crazy, I'll give you that.

Did you write that Tim?

Everybody! I am the web designer/developer of the site wwwTimHofman.com and i placed the info here since i figured that it would be nice to place some info about Tim in a forum like this and eventually bring Tim over closer to people who care to take a look but im amazed by your comments! Beeing a programmer puts me in a position to belong to a quite big community of developers but i have never seen such a "friendly" welcome in a community forum.
Anyhow, about the site - the content is written by other people about Tim.
Please, put aside comments like "i dont like your hair" and give some constructive critics/ideas/comments. i appreciate that you are taking the time to look at it and i am happy that this posting has such a polemic followup in less than 24 hrs
thanks everybody!

It's just that we only appreciate real classical music here and not some "wrong" Richard Clayderman or something like that.

When I was having a look at your page for the first time I was quite amused especially by the text. Something like "When Tim Hofmans performs you can feel the love." or "Tim Hofman - the all-time greatest!" really made me smile for some reason.
Today I visited the site again. My screams must have woken half the people in my house! WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE MUSIC? Oh Lord, the poor Heroic Polonaise op.53, it really doesn't deserve to be played that way, with orchestra, extreme textbendings and the most cheesy rubato I've ever heard. The same goes for the waltz and many others. I guess this must be the love... For me it's just physical pain.
If someone plays "candlelightmusic", that's just fine, but please don't rape serious music and post the links in a forum dedicated to this very music.
Seriously, I think you are at the wrong board. And now I really need my morphium...

Well if it's not you fine, but I find it hard to believe anyone is such a huge fan of that guy they would have it as their ID lol. But you can tell him he plans on doing Liszt, good luck with gloves - he's gonna need the keyboard to have keys twice the width as usual, and be able to move twice as fast, that's if his hair doesn't get caught, and yeh some of the music is terrible. I showed the videos to a friend of mine who has hardly heard any classical music and the first thing she said was. "OMG, what a div, what's he using gloves for?...........He's not playing that right is he?" the second thing she said was, "all he needs now is a mask covering half his face." I think that says it all, lol. But hey, I'm sure there's a market for him somewhere

oh god, after reading this comment, i decided not to take a look at the page.... this is what i'm totally against, the "rearrangements" of some really good music. that's why i hate maksim, clayderman or the likes.
c'mon, us people here dedicated to the conservation of tradition try our very best to conserve whatever is left of the great tradition so that we don't lose them. as it is, there have been so many changes that we can't even decipher which is "closest" to the real thing.
oh no, not another maksim! that's why people these days mistake maksim for a musician, in fact, he's just an entertainer. he does not contribute anything to the development of music. does not adhere to the goals of a true and good musician in general.
if tim hofman would compose his own "candlelight" music, that would be a better option.
that's acceptable, i might even enjoy it. that's why i love jim chapell or david benoit because they are true to being a musician. but maksim or clayderman, yuckk. sorry, really.
if you think they bring classical music to the masses, no they're not! that, on the other hand, is our job. excuse me, we are trained to do such. if tim hofman was classically trained, i'm sorry to say but he's trashing his own training to the bin with that kind of music.
i just really hope that tim hofman would either compose his own music or stop altogether. please! you're making our tasks even more difficult. we need the public to know what is classical and what is not classical. if we lose this capability of the people, then tradition will go down the drain because eventually, every aspiring pianist will try to become a maksim or a clayderman.
P.S.
as much as i don't like the Grieg Concerto in am, i still do hope that the public doesn't identify this music to the way Maksim does it, you know, with all the percussions and synths, etc. puhlease... i'm quite passionate about this matter.... so sorry to appear offensive.
don't drive me,

You're the "web designer," hmmm? Right... Well, if you are, what were you thinking? And if you're "Maestro Timothy Von Hofman," as the site so modestly says, well ... what were you thinking?
This fanclub review is a particular favourite of mine:
"You have been given an extraordinary gift from above - your unique talent combined with these beautiful melodies has touched my soul."
It destoyed mine. You just know this person's a David Helfgott fan.

I agree. That was the most painful display of misplaced confidence I've heard in a while.

"Hofman" - give or take a second "f" or "n" - is, or ought to be, a good name for a pianist, storyteller or proprietor of a pharmaceutical giant; on the basis of the evidence supplied here, however, "Tim" seems to be little more than four-sevenths of a kettledrum.
The quote from thje site concerned which was mentioned earlier in this thread ought perhaps to read "Tim Hofman's passion is his music. And the music is from his heart. When Tim Hofmann performs you can feel the arteries hardening, the blood clotting and the aorta collapsing."
An earlier contributor wrote of his/her "hope that tim hofman would either compose his own music or stop altogether"; frankly, just one of those two would do, really - and I'm sure no one will have much trouble in guessing which of those two I mean...
Best,
Alistair
