Ouch! You are hurting my feelings as a web developer...

Give it up you moron. If you wanted to convince everyone that you are the web developer then coming into the chat rooms late at night admitting to being TH and going on about your hair like it was worth anything, was not a good idea. I, for one, am not stupid. Unless you have anything more to say that is worthwhile, leave. You have lost this battle. You posted your music, no one likes it here. They have the right not to. Learn to recognise when something has dried up. Stop trying to convince everyone that you are God. It is rather self indulgent and sickening. I dont know what you are trying to achieve by persisting, but it is thoroughly pathetic.

Well, i'm sorry if you don't like his music.
Whose music? I didn't realise that he was supposedly a composer as well...

I think hofman is like Hamelin: he dares to do imaginary performances of old pieces.
Hofman like Hamelin? That's priceless! I rather doubt that Hamelin would be especially delighted with this back-handed compliment, even if its back-handedness were unintended - and I don't think that their respective quantities of hair is especially similar. In any case, assuming that by "imaginary" you mean "imaginative" in the remainder of what you write here, is that not a performance quality that any intelligent listener has a right to expect from any pianist, not just from Hamman and Hofelin?...

I doubt any of you will become even nearly as successful as he is.
Not as much as I doubt that anyone on this forum would even want to be "as successful as he is" - or indeed "successful" at all - at what TH does...

World should have more pianists as godly as he.
Which world's that, then? And who is to be its sole arbiter of levels of "godliness"? - I don't think that even those members of this forum who have discussed matters of godliness here would seek to assume such a rôle...

In an earlier post in this now seemingly interminable thread, forum member "memminger" generously attributed the various claims made for Tim Hofman as part of an expression of humour; well, even if his kindly interpretation is correct, the joke was surely well and truly over a long time ago.

As a genuine expression of humour, the one mention of Jonathan Powell in this thread almost eclipses the attempt to align TH with Hamelin...

Enough!

Best,

Alistair

Heavens above.

I just "experienced" the most stomach-churning musical performance.

Did "Maestro Tim Hofman" (sic) resort to this musical prostitution after failing his audition for Whitesnake (doubtless due to being unable to resist extreme rubati?)

Well, Tim has been performing music for over 35 years and toured in 24 countries. His repertoire of over 1000 songs that can satisfy all musical tastes. So, he is a very successful pianist and better than you.

Tim has the amazing ability to infuse timeless music with new emotion through his skillful artistry on the piano and nothing you say will undo that. I would say Tim is one of top10 pianists currently living.

Funny how one of the top 10 pianists living today has no info available other than his website...  If he's so famous and done so much touring, why am I not seeing any reviews (much less ANYTHING) if I google his name?

it is clear as daylight that tim hofman is an aweful pianist. he is not famous, but probably rather infamous amongst those unfortunate enough to have met his acquaintance, or that of his pseudo site developer. Rumour has it he has a die hard fan named "timhofmanfan" who is equally inept in recognising what music played well should sound like. The two of them will carry Tim hofman and his devastating versions of clair de lune and  fantasie impromtu amongst others into a musical future that holds much false promise of the next musical messiah.
I better go and empty out my cd rack, it's time to make way for TIm Von Hofman.

This site must be a fake - there is no other explanation. Take a look at the pictures ! One doesn't even need to listen to the MP3s - he plays as Santa Claus with a golden angel right next to him !!!! No ! This must be unreal, it's like from Saturday's nightlife ! I guess Timothy i sitting in front of his PC almost dying from laughing ! I mean he has a sense of humor. Five minutes ago i checked his FANPAGE section. Somebody (most likely the master himself) wrote: "Use more arpeggios, you don't play the enough" or something like it. Incredibly funny ! Grin

It was, of course (as I'm sure you and others will appreciate) specifically the kind of playing in his comedy routines - for which he was known - that prompted my citing of his name in this context; as to how good a player he really was, I have to confess that I have less than no idea!

Myleene klass is actually a very good classical pianist, who did some transcribing but turned back to classical (last ive heard). Mr Hofman here on the other hand, has gotten the idea of classical music very wrong. The geniuses of our time, chopin, liszt, rachmaninov, wrote their pieces to perfection. If Mr. Hofman here says that he wrote these pieces he is playing to the better, that he is in fact a better composer then the previous mentioned, well, he is an idiot. One cannot re-write these pieces to make them better or even equal, IEO mr hofman is simply ruining these wonderful composistions, and making everyone in the classical music environment very upset (having a hard time writing in a decent manner).
As previoulsy mentioned, this forum is not a place for mr hofman or his one fan, so just piss off goddammit and stop ruining the geniusness of our great composers. Liszt\Chopin\Anyone must be turning in the grave from hearing what this man is doing to their lifes work
(sorry couldnt keep myself any longer)

Of "our time"? Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov? This must be a form of relativity that even Einstein could not have forseen -- by the way, that must be another "genius" of "our time", I guess.

and stop ruining the geniusness of our great composers.

Don't you think, that these great composer must in fact be very bad composers, if an entertainer of Mr Hofman's caliber could really ruin their output?

Liszt\Chopin\Anyone must be turning in the grave from hearing what this man is doing to their lifes work

Believe me, their lifes work remain perfectly in tact, no need to worry.

(sorry couldnt keep myself any longer)

Yes, obviously you couldn't.

I actually don't understand what this fuss is all about. Have a look at his name, it says everything that can - and needs - be said about him, no, not "Tim van Hofman", I mean his "full" name: "www.timhofman.COM". He wants to make some money and he tries to achieve this by selling clichés. That's it.

I must confess, I have certain weakness for grotesque things, so I may be one of the very few people here, who enjoyed - in the words broadest sense - the video of him, playing a crippled Chopin waltz (with black gloves!). I think he is funny, Ah well, who cares...

With "our time" i mean of course the time of civilized man, not the year 2006.

Hello
It's really great to see that there are also other tim hofman fans out there! I Have enjoyed Tims music for some time now and I think his music much is more romantic and emotional than the original works. I love the chopin waltz played by him so much. Tim is the greatest pianist! I really think you should listen to him more, maybe buy some cd:s from his website. I can assure you you will learn to love his music if you listen to it enough. It may be too complicated to understand it when listening first time...

I am afraid, you did not get mine either.

It does not look like you know what you are talking about.

Great composer's works remain unharmed, even if they are performed - or mutilated as in this case - by incapable performing artists. This is what I am talking about.

I do worry. mr hofman here goes around playing his "interpretations" to people who dont know anything about classical music. those people will think "so thats what chopin\liszt etc sounds like.
Im horrified by the thought.

Yes, wouldn't it be a nice thing, if every one could have some sort of musical body-guard, who protects you from listening to "wrong" or "bad" music. What a nice idea, indeed, haha...Big Brother, hello!

If you actually like his music then you obviously dont know anything about classical music or classical composers.

I think, what he does is bizarre, that's what makes it funny. I do not care what else you deduce out of what I write.

And before you have compared any piece that mr hofman has re-written with the original you may not reply.

I may reply as and when ever it suites me, as long as I act according to the forum rules. And this applies to everybody else here, too, yes, even to "www.timhofman.com" and his webmaster and his fans and his enemies. This must be a very unpleasent thought for you, doesn't it?

I do not think what he does should be credited with a three(+) page thread. So let's hope that this discussion may come to an end soon.

This one part of your post is entirely defensible - indeed, it is surely beyond all argument. As to the remainder, however - well, readers may (and, of course, will) take it or leave it and, frankly, this particular reader feels deeply obliged to do the latter...

There have already been some "Amens" to that, I think; quite how many more it may take in order to deliver to this thread the ultimate death blow that it surely now so richly "merits" remains unclear for the time being, but one may nevertheless live in hope...

I do not think that his "work" has anything to do with classical music, therefore I am not insulted by it. It is bizarre Kitsch - in my opinion funny Kitsch - , nothing more.

But I agree, we should leave it at that.

Tim has the amazing ability to infuse timeless music with new emotion through his skillful artistry on the piano and nothing you say will undo that. I would say Tim is one of top10 pianists currently living.

I would be very surprised if there were not 10 pianists in the world of age under 8 who are better than Tim. His fingers have the fluidity o
