Invention 8 status
« on: April 29, 2006, 08:18:33 PM »

I've memorized and learned to play at speed 12 measures with my RH....should I keep going with my RH until the end (piece is 34 measures)? Or should I start learning the LH now?

Thanks!

I suggest learning continuing with the RH, and learning the LH at the same time.  In my opinion, usually you should learn both hands (separately) at the same time, rather than mastering one and then learning the other. Especially true for Bach, which requires total independence.

Thanks that makes a lot of sense.  I should have been learning the LH too! Oh well I'll start working on the LH today to catch up to the RH so I can finish both hands at the same time.  Good way to rest one hand while the other is practicing.

So should I learn the whole piece separate before I start putting the hands together?

If I were you, Id be  paying most attention to the development section, as it is significantly harder imo.
