Chopin Medley
on: June 16, 2006, 07:22:03 AM
I got the idea to do a Chopin medley a few months back, and got to work.  The original one I had is completely different, as it has evolved into quite a fun piece to work on.  The transitions mainly, plus the added notes I threw in there.  Anyway, here is the first rough cut.

It's in a very elementery stage right now, still a bit sloppy at parts, but you get the idea.

Includes bits and pieces from:

Minute Waltz, Ballade in G minor, Scherzo No. 2, Nocturne in Eb, Fantasie Impromptu, Scherzo No. 1.

Feedback appreciated!

-Tyler

I'm 22 and i've been playing since I was 8, with 5 years of lessons from 8th grade until senior year.  So...14 years or so.  It's been a while, so I better be good  ;D

can u imagine how confused first year music students would be if they had an 'identify that piece' test - with a medley.  i think i want a video of it.

I've been looking to get my hands on a digital camera, but no one that I know owns one.  As soon as I get one, i'm going to record.

this is exactly the kind of stuff that gets u noticed.  u play a piece perfectly and in nearby classrooms people simultaneously are listening to lectures or taking tests.  u play that, and everyone comes out and asks 'who's playing?'

well that's good to hear.  I'm actually thinking of performing this type of stuff, how well do you think it would go over?  Would people appreciate it or think of it as disrespecting the masters?

as long as u have the word 'medley' in ur program - ur ok. enough disrepect is already given the masters by over playing works (and some are played terribly).  now if someone, as urself, plays really well and makes people laugh at the same time - it's cool.

I actually don't know the entire piece to ANY of these pieces anymore :)  It's been so long since I played them, I just decided to mold them together into one big song.

By the way, here's a NEW recording of it.
