Hi all I've been playing for about a year, so my skill level is low. Atm I'm working on Turkish March by Mozart, in order to give you an idea. What I'm searching is something easy, romantic, lyrical... Something I could play to my girlfriend, something technicaly not very demanding, I have about a week to learn it... Any suggestion?

1 week? hmm, what about the Grieg arietta? you should learn it pretty fast, only 1 page, + its very lyrical and nice. Its Op. 12 no.1. I would recommend some more of his lyrical pieces but there are so many that fit your description so i suggest you give them a listen yourself Off the top of my head i can think of Melody Op.47 No.3, Lonely Wanderer Op.43 No.2 and maybe the homesickness op.57 no.6.

I would play her Opus Clavicembalistica rather then Fur Elise, but it's a long long story I'll try Grieg and tell you like it... Thank you!

WOOT WOOT!!! Glad you've got a gurl that likes music. Way to go. Try some Mendelssohn. On Wings of Song is really good, but I haven't tried it in a while so it might be harder than I remember it. Pretty much anything by Mendelssohn is good. Try to play something from Songs w/o Words. Good luck, mate!

I'd be willing to wager that what you play for her on the piano has almost nothing to do with how much your girlfriend likes you. Do other things for your girlfriend and play piano for yourself.

aww...that's sweet that you're learning a piece for your girl! I wish that I had something helpful to insert...but truthfully, I just wanted to say that I think it's quite romantic of you.

Of course, I know. I'm not learning piano for her. I just though it would be nice to play her something... What Mendelssohn should I try? I don't know anything of him... Thx Gonzalo for the links!

Maybe Clair de Lune (Debussy)? It's fairly easy, and many people find it romantic.

For the intermediate student:
Liebestraume No. 3 by Liszt Chopin Nocturne in C sharp minor op. posth. Chopin Nocturne in E flat major op. 9 no. 2 Chopin Nocturne in C minor op. posth.
For the slightly more advanced pianist:
Un Sospiro by Liszt Harmonies du Soir by Liszt Sposalizio by Liszt Prelude in D major op. 23 no. 4 by Rachmaninoff Morceaux de Fantasie op. 3 by Rachmaninoff Ballade 1 by Chopin Pathetique: Adagio by Beethoven Schumann Fantasiestucke op. 12
For the very advanced pianist:
Liszt sonata Gaspard de la Nuit Chopin B minor sonata op. 58 Beethoven sonata op. 109, 110, 111 Scriabin sonatas 1-10 Schubert Wanderer Fantasy Schumann Fantasy Op. 17
I can't promise it will help you GET a girl, but it could lead to more exciting or romantic sex afterwards. Enjoy!

If you can play the entire Schumann Fantasy, Liszt Sonata, or Chopin Sonata No. 2 (or 3), then you will be vey fortunate indeed to find a girl with such an attention span.
I suggest some Szymanowski- or one Bartok song. I need to find out which one that was...

I thinks Fur Elise and Romance by John Field are very suitable.

Conversely, you could play something stultifyingly boring and long, and if, when you're done, she's still there, you know you've got a catch.

But you might risk losing her altogether as she thinks you're boring... ihatepop (uhatepop 2 )
