Very very very very VERY VERY GOOD!! For 5 months worth of work, it is excellent. You are a very talented pianist. There are still things like speed and clarity in a passage or two that need attention, but, that will definitely come with more time. By that I mean there is nothing wrong at all with the way you practise, or play, its just things that just need more time. You have been playing this piece for a very short time, and to have it at this standard in that time is incredible. This is an isanely difficult piece of music. I salute you!! Bear in mind that the HR's are based on speed. (Generally the coda's), but, as, I said, you wont have any problem getting it there with the way you are going. You also have the character very nicely in place. Many pianists tend to miss the true 'Hungarian" quality of these rhapsodies, but you dont really.

One of the scariest hours of my life was getting a masterclass on my HR (no 8 ) from Hungarian pianist, Tamás Ungár. He made it very clear just how fast the coda had to be for the piece to be truly effective But he also gave a lot of advice on the character of the piece, (ie, the dances, use of the zimbalom etc) Just generally made the piece more Hungarian. You do it well. Well done!!

I agree to almost all of your points of view.For the Hungarian Rhapsodies,the speed always be a very important thing.Speed makes rhapsodies exciting.And the true"Hungarian" must be the soul of these pieces.....But.....what is the true "Hungarian",I think I don't know it clearly
You have learned from Tamás Ungár?One of my teachers have been his student in America!I can imagine how Ungar teach you on the HR8,it must be a very amazing feeling for you.
Oh,I want to hear how Ungar plays HR!
