Debussy Images Book II

'Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut' is a masterpiece... I can't stop listening to it.  If you're familiar with the score, the section beginning at mm 14 is beautiful.  The whole piece is so peaceful and reflective;

I havn't heard the first one enough to comment on it, but 'Poissons d'Or', the third part, is also awesome.  I don't think it has much in common with the other water pieces of the 20th century, namely Ondine by Ravel, and Debussy's Reflets dans l'eau.  Again, on measure 14 in this piece [I think  ] the higher melody that comes in.  I dunno, but before this, I simply picture goldfish swimming around.  At measure 14, it's as if I see everything surrounding the goldfish, I get like a bigger picture. 

Just on the side, if anyone's played possons d'or and feux d'artifice, which did you find more difficult.  I'm working on the prelude right now, and it's coming along really well.  I want to play the poissons d'or though...

The harmonies and tone color in all three pieces are incredible. I daresay these are the very best of impressionism.

I think these and his Pagodes are his best works /// although I don't play any of them  I dont know which of his books of images I like more though... Movement from the first book is my favorite out of those, but not sure if I like it more than the pieces from book 2

I love these pieces- particularly Cloches a travers les feuilles.

Next to his second book of preludes, they are the best piano pieces he ever wrote as far as im concerned.

I like book I better because of reflects dans l'eau. ABM owns that, there is a soundcheck version that is just amazing. I'd love to play these pieces one day, if I can acquire the staggering technique required to really do them justice (not bloody likely) and get a good enough piano.

Poissons d'or is one of the most amazing pieces out there. I love the major/minor harmonies in the opening tremolos.

I think that he was trying to imitate his first book instead of trying to be unique like he was when he wrote the first book.

And I just noticed earlier I wrote his Images 2 and 'Pagodes' were his best works, I meant to say Estampes, from which one can find pagodes...I enjoy listening to Estampes and Images 2 the most, but for some reason I'm more inclined towards playing the preludes... strange eh?

 Debussy image is very unique and very very Modern .I was one of Debussy number 1 fan too.   You can visit my topic in sheet music requests (Claude Debussy Piano Works by me a1 ) to vote so that I know your opinion .
