Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.19

My absolute favorite of the HRs, but so woefully underplayed...always yielding to nos. 2 and 6...
It sounds very, very difficult. Has anybody here played it? What technical and musical difficulties does it present?

okay, I can reason with that. Still, it's not talked about very much here at all.

It's Late Liszt - it's never gonna rival the popularity of the.... popular ones (sorry, can't think of a better word atm).
There's a lot of good late Liszt that doesn't get played simply coz, I think it's awkward to fit into a recital program and misses the melodic appeal of the earlier ones.
It's not only 19, a lot of the rhapsodies don't get played as often as 2,6 and 12. 13 was Liszt's favourite

Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.
