Chopin Etude Op 10-2
« on: January 30, 2004, 12:10:13 AM »

How hard is this piece?  I would like to know before I decide to whether practice this piece or not.

I can already play Raindrop Prelude.

Thanks

When you say considerable does it mean a lot?

It is typically considered one of the hardest Chopin etudes. Horowitz said that he could never get this one right. It doesn't sound terribly difficult, but one essentially must be able to play fast, fluid chromatic scales with only four and five while holding down other notes with the other fingers.

That is technically easy. But you should be prepared to work on the musicality of it.

Touch, tone, and color are the most important part of op.10,#3. It really is an exercise in musicality and interpretation.
