you sure get warmed up quickly.  i was kind ho-hum on the un sospiro - but you show a lot of lightness and ease with the chopin.  it's 'brilliant' and 'light' at the same time.  exactly what one would come to expect - and the notes are very clear.  what GREAT JOB!  you must be very pleased with your recital as everyone else was!

can i say something really honestly.  it's  nice to show both sides of a man.  we know you can play heavy with the scriabin and rach - but when you play with this lightness - it shows a lot of adaptability to whatever you approach.  i'd like to hear you play the un sospiro when you haven't a care in the world and no other pieces to perfect at the same time.

Thanks for the comment!  I used the first half to warm up for this... this was the first piece of the second half of the recital.  It's one of my favorite Chopin etudes!

   WOW!!  Loved it.  I studied that etude years ago, but never got it close to that point.  It is a killer, but you nailed it--clarity, beautiful phrasing exciting speed. 

I have no serious criticism--there were a couple of spots I didn't hear the LH dotted rhythm absolutely clearly, but that was only in the middle section where it is so, so difficult.

My admiration and congrats to you!  You had me on the edge of my chair.

Hi Josh,

I've followed your preparation of this piece for a couple of months now.  I think that you're most inspired aquitting yourself of a piece like this one in front of an audience as opposed to playing it in your music room.  Very bright, spirited and brilliant playing!  You're gaining quite a specialty and reputation in the etudes genre, which is fine.  You never fail to shine in performing these difficult pieces.  I wish I could play like that!  Great!!!
