Indeed.

I'd suggest this as a way to improve your pianism in general, inspire yourself, and have a little competitive fun.

Find somebody at a similar level to yourself(this can be a group of people actually), agree on repertoire you both wish to learn, set a date, and then post a recording and create a poll for the winner to be decided by other forumers.

A forum competition has previously been discussed, but I feel this is much more freeing, and may take off if enough people think it's a good idea.

A good difference between this and other areas of competition in piano is there will be no corruption(hopefully), and the people decide.

I am presently duelling Mozartian on Chopin's 10/2 etude, with the completion date of May 1st.

If it won't matter to you that I'm just re-polishing after half a year of utter neglection, then set the date.  Grin

Mozart K330, anyone?

You're probably going to "win" that; I've had almost no time to work on 10/2. I've been snowed under with real obligations and working to meeting those instead.

And also i challenge "franzliszt2" to a friendly opener with perhaps the 3rd scherzo of chopin since you mention it being one of your warhorses i think

i don't doubt you will win, but will you really win?

I wish I could.

I played that prelude in concert about a month and a half ago and haven't touched it since. It's about time for me to start playing it again.

Sadly (this is the most pathetic excuse ever) I have no way to record it.  Cry

That can be easily resolved: Audacity (freeware) and a mic. Cool Let's have a go at it! Grin

You have a grand, I assume? With the best mics in the world you will still get a honky-tonk sound out of my Yamaha upright. Believe me, I've tried it.

But, if you don't mind that, sure, I'll have a go at it.  Smiley
