Beethoven - Sonata No.26 Op.81a in Eb 3rd movement (Complete version)
« on: June 04, 2007, 02:47:08 PM »

I started working on this about a month ago...but honestly, I feel there are still many things to be done (this one is one of the pieces to be played in the audition early in next year)...I made a number of recordings and just selected one of them to upload it here...

Could you let me know which are the main things to improve and any practice tips for this?

Also, you will need to maximize the volume (PC and player) to listen to this...

the cadenza stuff seems to have the same importance as the melodious parts.  i'd soften the cadenza-like stuff - and make it like frosting on a cake.  really bringing out the parts that are basic.  maybe highlight them in yellow.  give them extra attention - and then the friviolous stuff will become more important too, by showing where it places in all of this.  it's like telling people where to stand.  noone is less important - but some will be higher - some lower...some softer...some louder.

also, more seriousness (and also slowness) for the melody parts and speed for the extraneous stuff.  if you carry the frivolousness of the faster parts intothe slow - it makes it all sound frivolous.

i'd like to hear no staccato on the chord next to last.  just ba ba.  two strong chords of equal length.  but, i have no idea if a staccato is written in.

From what I can tell, this is an outstanding performance.  But the recording quality leaves a lot to be desired.  I would love to hear more of your playing as captured by a good sound engineer-- and I would think the cost of this service would be minimal compared with the effort you put into playing so well.
