How hard is the Italian Concerto? I have played Bach's a minor P&F book II and his D Maj. book I as well as several smaller pieces. I want to attempt a large Bach piece and am leaning towards this. I don't have a large repertoire, but here is a list of what I consider my greater achievements.
Chopin Waltz no. 1 in E maj. the before mention Bach Beethoven Sonata F Maj. 2/1 1st mvt. Haydn Sonata D maj. (can't remember the number) 1st mvt. Shosty's PC 2 1st mvt.
Do you think it is possible to learn without taking years?
yeah it has been a real long time. The army has been occupying alot my time. I just recently started playing again. Surprisingly taking 9 months off or so hasn't completely destroyed my abilities.
I think you could definitely play it. If you really love the piece, go for it.
If you're looking for a large scale Bach work without the length of this concerto, check out the Toccatas. I recently began learning the d minor and the g minor (BWV 913 and 915). Great pieces, including the other five toccatas.
