Here's a pdf of the latest analysis of the Hatto Hoax -- and the most comprehensive -- just published in "The New Yorker" magazine.
Read and weep.

After reading the article, I am left with the impression that both Joyce and Barry have conjured up an unseemly escapade. I pity both of them - there is such a streak of tragedy over the whole sordid affair. Could there be personal grievances? Quite possibly so. It's just so saddening that people, in an effort to claim x number of seconds in the international limelight in fame and glory, instead wind up in the international limelight in shame and utter denouement. History will not be kind to their cause and situation.

Oh, what a wonderful world we had, if everything was so serious and honest
In the Hatto-case the swindle was uncovered. In many other cases I'm sure we are only too gullible to see the truth. The world of art is not as innocent as they want us make believe.

I was impressed by the thoroughness of that article too.
Re the New Yorker offerings, my site links also to the full online version of the article,
put up after the advance copy of the pdf was sent (the online version is easier to read in
that format) and, moreover, to the AUDIO conversation with the author, Mark Singer,
which you can stream-listen or download to hear at your leisure. It's about
15 minutes long. Included are other informational links.
The audio is a really interesting intro, and it also details for the magazine readers what
isn't covered in the article - the waveform analyses.
