I have read about this and even seen a picture of it on the internet.

I know it was released in Argentina.  It has Argerich playing several works, including Beethoven 1st concerto, at the age of 8.

Does anyone have this or know how to get it?  I'm at a loss, and I'd just love to hear it.

It's a beautifull recording of the Beethoven 1st Concerto. So cute Wink

I don't have the recording, but I have heard it three of four times. It can be found on a commercial CD together with Schumann's a-minor concerto from when she was around 15.

The Beethoven C major after one year of lessons?  At what age?  That's miraculous.  I think by age 7 or 8 (when Argerich played this) she had had several years of lessons.

It's been over a month now.

I finally got my hands on this CD, and I'm listening to it right now as I type.  It's absolutely incredible.  I cannot believe she is only 7 years old in this recording of Beethoven's 1st.  It's like she was born to play the piano--as though God pre-programmed her.

The recording quality is definitely quite primitive, but even still, Argerich's pianistic sound is excellent, and her second movement is quite polished for one so young.  And her scales and passage work is just so fluid, effortless, and clear......and how did she reach all those octaves with 7-year old hands?

Anyway, I am feeling very enthusiastic right now.  Thank you all for helping me find this.  I'm happy to be a part of this forum today Smiley

I must say I've found her playing Ravel's piano concerto on Youtube and have listened to it about 10 times in a row.  Ive never heard such delicate playing.

Yeah, she has a special gift.  I've been thinking lately, what would it be like, from your earliest memories, to know that you are incredibly special and to get lavish amounts of attention -- and stand in front of crowds and get applause?  To have a superhuman ability and know that other people cannot do what you do? Before you could ever develop a sense of yourself or who you are, you are set apart from everyone else.  And as you grow up to look around you and see that you are so far above everyone else in your abilities, and to have this realization gain in strength as you get older.....

On the one hand it would be wonderful, on the other hand it might make for feelings of isolation....it seems it would produce joys and burdens that would be inseparable......and a feeling of having never had many choices--

She performed here two days ago, Prokofiev's third concerto.

First time I heard her. I'm not an Argerich fan, and I've hardly listened to any of her recordings.
It was the most profound musical experience I've ever had.
Profound because the music was a like a toy for her.
So there was nothing coming between her soul and my ears.
The purest thing ever heard!

She's apparantly taking this on tour through Europe and USA.
If you can't buy a ticket, steal one!
This is a MUST!

Randomly, my little sister who just turned 7 can reach a 9th....

Pretty FREAKY
