How do you know what grade you are?
«

Because im pretty much a self-taught pianist, i have no clue what grade i am.
Im not going give a list of pieces i play, because you guys dont know HOW i play them and i dont want to look like some bragging kid (i've seen them too much here
).
In some topic i called myself a grade 8 player with the idea that lvl 1 is a starting pianist and a grade 10 someone who can play everything perfectly. But after looking on an ABRSM site i found out that youre already a grade 8 if you can play Chopin's nocturne op55 no1, wich is pretty easy to my opinion.
Anybody knows how to classify myself?
Thanks,
Gyzzzmo

Nice link, but not very usefull :p I'm not going to pay money to do exams to get officially a grade..
Im just interested in how i can find out wich pieces you need to play for wich grade. The examinators very likely also use a list like that.... Anybody knows?

I've already been to that site, there's where i got my info about what you need for grade 8, the highest grade according to ABRSM. But to be honost, the pieces on that list are pretty low level to my opinion. Is there a grade system wich also supports higher lvl pieces?

Well why don't you find it yourself then.
Anyway, back to original question.

Hard to help, as you seem to know everything already.

Well, the funny thing is that so many people here play high lvl pieces. Chopin etudes, sonatas, balades, Liszt campanella's, un sospiro's, transcedental etudes.... There must be a classification for people who perform way better than the ABRSM gradation. Cause according to that gradation, there arent many people on this forum who are NOT grade 8 :p
Btw, ofcourse thank you for your reply, but if you would have read my intropost you would already have known that i know about the ABRSM

You sound abit frustrated.... ill try to comfort by explaining it so you wont end up as a terrorist:
As i said in my intropost, i had heard about ABRSM grades, thats all. And the pdf file i found was full of easy pianopieces, even grade 8. Wich was the same page as you gave me. How could i know ABRSM gradings are only part of a bigger grading system: ABRSM, dipBRSM, LRSM and another?
So your link was useless for me because it was about that same ABRSM again. Amelialw's link did give me the info though wich i thanked her for.

These 2 particular statements appear to be rather racist.
And thats not very nice, is it
I would not say anything bad about the nice Dutch people.

You sound like extremely dull and without any sense of humor. Also you should check a dictionary and find out when something is racism and when not.

If you really think so, its not strange that i think you have a total lack of humor wich would make you dull
. I dont know your personality, but you're A: making inmense problems of nothing (this was about grades, remember?) and B youre definitely lacking the 'funny genes'
