does anyone fancy duelling:

schubert-liszt      staendchen (serenade)
brahms               ballade (op.118 no.3)

?

i've just started them and should be ready to post by dec. 1st (or earlier if you prefer).

thanks,

edd

the duels seem unfair, because there's no real way to know how long you've been working on them.

maybe a third party should decide the pieces (which would be obscure) and would not reveal what they are until two contenders are chosen.

not that i have any reason not to trust you, but...  Undecided

Anyone want to duel on the Prok Tok, say, over christmas break?
Or possibly a Liget?

for the record, i've never studied these pieces before. but that shouldn't make any difference. for me at least it's more about focusing my practice and injecting a little urgency rather than 'winning'. in the duel i just did i'd never studied the piece before and the others had but it didn't seem to make a huge difference. the most important thing was that i learned the piece within (kind of Wink) a deadline and was able to post up a recording of it.

anyway, these are the 2 pieces i'd like to learn. if anyone wants to learn/relearn them at the same time and post a recording on dec 1st then please let me know!

I'll do the Brahms if you want. I think I'll need a little longer though...I have to learn a few other pieces in the next 2-3 weeks. Would you still be interested with a deadline a week or two later?

Asked if he had ever conducted any Stockhausen,Sir Thomas Beecham replied, "No, but I once trod in some."
