Rach Prelude Op. 23 No. 5 Fingering
«

Hi there! Long time no post. Can somebody help me with the fingering on page 2 of this prelude? I am talking about the right hand in the measures 17 to 20. Can I play this like 1,3,5-5-1,5-5 (measure 18) or legato like 1,3,4-5-1,4-5?
Thanks

i used 3 but that didn't work out very well. I think it's better to not use 3 in bar 18 for the RH

I use 1,2,4/1,5/1,5/1,4/1,3,5 in m. 17 and 1,2,4/5/1,4/1,5/1,2,4 in mm. 18. and 19. In m. 20 1,2,4/5/1,4/5/1,2,4
it depends on the hand span, if you have smaller hands you might try 1,3,5/1,5/1,5/1,4 in m. 17 and 1,2,4/5/1,4/1,5/1,3,5 in m. 18. In m. 19 1,3,5/1,4/1,5/5. For m. 20 it would be 1,3,5/5/1,4/5/1,3,5
hope this helps.

I do:
measure 17: 1-2-4, 1-5, 1-5, 1-5
measure 18: 1-2-4, 5, 1-4, 5
measure 19: 1-2-4, 5, 1-4, 5
measure 20: 1-2-4, 5, 1-4, 5
It's the most helpful fingering at fast speeds, and quite comfortable too.
