Chopin's forgotten waltz 'melancolique' in F# minor.  Recorded on a Yamaha C4.

Enjoy,

Hi allchopin,

I must say, I've never heard this waltz before.  It's good that you go "off the beaten path" in selecting repertoire.  The piece definitely has a sad and plaintive sound, so lives up to its subtitle "Melancolique".   You play it very well!  Thanks for posting it.

Thanks guys, I'm glad to finally post this recording (among others) after a long period of inactivity on the forum.  I wanted to introduce some new stuff and I think the rest of the forum is doing a good job of that too.

I'm welcoming more information on the waltz if anyone happens to know something about it.  I personally have little on the piece, other than the little in Wikipedia's listings for Chopin works.  One proposed date of composition is 1947 (2 years before his death) but I find that unlikely.  It is less developed and embellished than even his G minor Op. 37 nocturne of 1838.  Regardless the work is a gem, and like a gem is perhaps more precious when kept relatively undiscovered Smiley.
