I've played two Beethoven sonatas so far, the pathetique and the op.10, no.2.  Both took me a very long time to get to performance level, and I often questioned my ability to play the piece the way I wanted, occasionally crying myself to sleep.  Now I am learning the op.10, no.3 sonata, and the first movement is going very well.  I'm starting to see a lot of the same techniques being utilized, and just in general it seems to be coming together a lot quicker and with much less agony.  Things have never come easy for me in piano.  Could it be that I'm finally getting better?  Is all the pain and suffering I went through in the past finally paying dividends?  Has anyone else ever felt that something similar to this has occurred to them?  I hope this is the case,

Joe

I dont think you became any better all those years. Its far more likely that some crazy fairy hopped on your bed last night and casted a temporally 'virtuosity-spell' over you... Most likely anyway.....

Oh, and 1 last formula for you for completely understanding my reply:

------ 1 Post Nonsensus + 1 forum seriousicus = (at least) 1 reply Nonsensus -------------

Our advanced mathmaticians and physisians will probably think now, where did that '1 forum seriousicus' go? I dont know, maybe it went into heat... or light....

You probably are advancing. However, remember to try and keep your sense of humour. Going to bed depressed is not a route I would take...in other word, try not to beat yourself up mentally and have plenty of patience. Good luck.
