Does anybody know of any good music writing software (besides Finale and Sibelius)?

I use Score Writer 2.
It's not wonderful, but I got it free...so it's better than pen and paper.

Not sure it's available though unless you happen to use RiscOS 3.7 or above, which is pretty unlikely nowadays.

I use Encore for most of my stuff simply because I've been using it or its predecessor for a long time. It's not great, but it's cheaper than Finale or Sibelius.
