Sorabji Organ Project

I just checked out the details surrounding this ambitious new project, on which Alastair Hinton wrote a nice introductory article:

I am definitely going to plan on booking my plane ticket for next June to catch the first of the performances related to this project.

A glance at Kevin's site indicates that he already has some tentative dates in mind for performances of the 3rd symphony and his recast version of the 1st.

This performance has been many years in the planning. A glance at his repertoire definitely indicates that Kevin is light years beyond your average organist.

Um...okay. I can understand being pessimistic about things like gas prices, war, or the wealth gap but what's the point of indulging in it to prod at an older musician for opting out of a performance that he may have not been physically up to performing, a 3+ hour piece of considerable difficulty no less. Is this type of curtly-stated venom supposed to be cute or something? It's base and unnecessary.

If this does actually happen Indutrial, I can't wait to see you there!

I thought you had some kind of emo-riffic falling-out with Sorabji's oeuvre or something, which led you to start needling Alastair about Sorabji's pieces, etc... If it turns out we do both end up attending this event, I (1.) will not be wearing a name tag that says Indutrial or my first name and (2.) will probably be amongst the dozen or two anonymous people who won't be talking with you. (3.) I usually sit away from the young/smug/moody/knowitall audience members at recitals so as to avoid the seemingly inevitable onslaught of sighs, yawns, and grumbles that are released during the performance, not to mention the untoward editorializing that usually starts as soon as the lights go up at the intermission. Though the real you is probably not like that, it's a blanket assumption that has done me no wrong in the past.

The way airfare is starting to look, I'll probably end up having to skip on this one anyway and I'll just buy the new version of the score Bowyer is preparing as well as the recording that will hopefully follow.

I'm pretty sure there will be. Many of Sorabji's supporters and performers are at least in their 50s and even a younger patron like myself wouldn't want to devastate my prostate by going that long without a trip to the head. And, lest we forget, Bowyer's web site clocks the full second symphony at about 6½ hours (and the third is another 6½ hours!!). Whether or not I go to this show, I definitely hope that they decide to have some refreshments available.

Almost certainly and since it is Glasgow, we can imagine what it will be.

I think this will be a rather interesting event, and i can imagine people coming from a lot further away than me to see it.

Do we know yet if you have to purchase tickets, or is it by invite only?. If the latter, I don't fancy my chances.
