Hey fellow pianists.. I am looking for a piece to perform at a solo concert, I'll be the only piano solo there (in fact the only solo whatsoever). Last year I played Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag, which received lots of appraise If any of you have suggestions as to pieces for me to perform this year, I'd greatly appreciate them. Keep in mind it should be something popular (like Maple Leaf Rag is) and nothing too extremely hard Thanks -J

For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert. (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Alright... is there any specific version for the piano solo? Instead of just playing background while the trumpet/sax solos? Check out this video for what I'm talking about King Chanticleer is nice... definitely harder than Joplin's stuff I'd probably favor Brubeck's "It's a Raggy Waltz" over the Chanticleer just because it fits the occasion better.

I found the sheetmusic in the local library, never tried finding it on the internet but that might be hard since the sites i know about are focussed on classical music. But if you live in a decent city, go to the library gyzzzmo

I had that in mind before, the only reason I won't play that is because it's a bit too slow for this concert... It's beautiful, but I need something more upbeat

See if you can find The Gershwin Songbook -- Gershwin's own piano arrangements of his songs. They're a lot of fun, although some of them are quite difficult. André Watts recorded the whole thing.

I'm doing Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' for piano solo atm. Might be a nice project for you, although its abit harder (and longer ) than the raggy Waltz. gyzzz
