Hi, everybody. I'm working on the sonata no.8 (Pathétique) by Beethoven, (Opus 13). In the third movement, at bar 18, it is written "sfp". What does it mean ? I know that "fp" is for "fortepiano", but what is the S for ? Thanks in advance.
sFp is more relative than Fp. An accent in a P dynamic is way less strong than an accent in a F dynamic. There, the sFp in a P dynamic is less strong than a Fp, and an sFp in a F dynamic is stronger than Fp. Hope that's clear ...

Jazz is to classical what Mcdonald's is to great restaurants. It's trash and will allways be even if lots of people like it.
