Grr... My finger dexterity is going...
«

I've been doing a chord routine (arps) and a few pieces, actual music then.
Not my big bad physical routine.
I played through some scales today and I notice the fingers just aren't there like they were.
Is there anyway around that? It seems like that's always the case. If I focus on one thing, something else starts to suffer.

Sounds like you are using your fingers alone to depress the keys.

What youre doing at the moment is by far not enough to keep technique on a high level. Find out what your technical weaknesses are and work on those instead of mindless arps

how were they like before? well sounds something like another one of my stupid problematic cases of mistakes. played like a hundred new mistakes on a piece which i regularly practice on. some peculiar problem this is. and without changing anything

I'm focusing on the weakest of chords. Knowing them, reading them.
I was doing little finger exercises before. Lots. And I'm not now, so that's why.
I just want to have both somehow.
I've gone cold turkey.

Theres more technique in the world than being able to play chords

That's just what I'm pushing right now. I suppose a little finger control will have to go. It's just annoying to see that. I made a routine up that covered a little of everything so that wouldn't happen. Oh well.

Do you think that a pianist can take a month from even touching the piano and then play at near his ability when he starts again. He wouldn't have to warm up. He just sits down and plays without the least bit of hesitation. Then he gets comments about how much he must have been practicing.
If such a pianist were possible, why aren't all pianists capable of such a feat?
