You realize more vividly you are going to die and are here only temporarily

You have health problems and realize everyone else does too

You regret earlier decisions and wish you could do it over

A small amount of food leaves you surprisingly full for a long time

You can't eat too much before bed

You don't like to stay out late

You are less ambitious

You realize you have to start letting go of things you can't control

You wonder what the next life will be like

You look at really old people and dread the future, looking and feeling like they do

The first one is so true.

Hmmmm yes I don't fear death, I fear seeing others die that I love before me, thats the risk of getting old.

- able to do things you never dreamed you could
- daring as you did not dare when you were younger
- learning and growing faster than in your youth, because you have better ways of getting there
- realizing that aging is a myth
- seeing youthfulness in a 60 year old
- seeing age in the 20 year old with a miserable attitude
- knowing a coin has many sides and you can choose all of them
- feeling compelled to respond to threads about aging

Very droll, I'm sure - but if that happens to be a problem that affects you personally, you could always get a set of these with an eye-level digital readout. Anyway, with all the talk about obesity these days, I'm sure that this is not a problem confined to those of greater age in any case...

Best,

Alistair

Here are some signs that I've noticed in my personal life:

Being referred to as "Sir" or "Mr. Manjarrez" at public places.

Not being asked for ID when purchasing alcohol.

Getting sleepy at 10 pm.

Not wanting to go to late night parties.

I notice that there seems to be what look like 13 year olds driving cars.

When "the kids" start turning into stroppy teenagers.

My feet ache.

And last of all, when you look in the mirror and you have less hair than yesterday.

You took the old SAT.

You didn't know there WAS an "old" SAT

<Thal - sorry to inform you but not being able to see the bathroom scale is not a sign of being old, it's just a sign of being big 'round the middle. Kiss>

The afflication that brings this situation about can, if untreated and allowed to develop further, eventually lead to the need to hold the banjo in a position not dissimilar to that which is customarily adopted for playing the viola (apart from the use of the bow, of course)...

Best,

Alistair

I have never tried the voila.

I will test this theorum.

Thal

PS Hinty - why don't you start an Early signs of advanced ageing thread? You can speak with more authority on that.

I have never tried the voila.
Then you should do so before you pronounce your verdict. Voilą is an oft-encountered spelling for this French word that essentially means "there it is!"; there's no obvious precedent, however, for it to mean "there's a viola"...

I will test this theorum.
If you know a fellow called Theo that makes rum, then perhaps you could at least test his product, although I remain to be convinced that this is the same thing...

PS Hinty - why don't you start an Early signs of advanced ageing thread?
Because I have neither the desire nor the experience to do so.

You can speak with more authority on that.
Sadly, I must inform you that your confidence in my authority here is grossly misplaced.

Best,

Alistair
