Hello friends,

I'm studying the Chopin fantasy-impromptu at the moment. Unfortunately I practised to much so that since last week my left hand makes a ckrackling noise each time a make a thight fist. It doesn't hurt and I'm able to go on practising. I also heard of friends that it is normal that your hand somehow develop such noises due to practising. However, I worry a lot, as I intend to attend a conpetition soon. So, shall I go to a doctor. Does anyone of you have the same problem?

Thanks!

No, I do not believe that it is necessary for you to go to the doctor.
Most people can experience those cracking noises when they squeeze their hand or pull their fingers.
If you were experiencing pain that would be a different matter.
As long as you feel that your left hand is functioning as it usually does then you should have nothing to worry about.
However, remember that too much up-to-speed playing is counter productive and always think about the basic requirements of good posture and hand position at the keyboard.
Good luck for your competition!
Robert.
