Grieg's Lyric Pieces
«

I'm really confused. Which opus exactly is "Lyric Pieces"? Everyone's lists of Lyric Pieces seem to be different. The opus numbers are all different as well...
Also, how hard is To The Spring? It looks pretty simple at the start but all those extra staves are really intimidating.

There isn't just one opus. According to the notes on my Naxos CD he published the 66 lyric pieces in ten volumes over a long period of time.
I had a go at To the Spring last year. The part where it goes into 3 staves looks fearsome but is actually very clearly and playably written and I got there with lots of HS practice, then playing each stave against the other, and lots of practice of the two right hand lines so that the melody sings out against the middle line accompaniment. So technically it's not bad (and I'm no virtuoso!!).
But really
playing
it ... allegro appasionato and trying to express that wonderful combination of tenderness and elation ... must try again!

Thanks. That really had me confused. I'll do To The Spring after I'm done with Heart Asks Pleasure First.
