Hello... I've been watching some of yours videos. Very nice to look at  Smiley

Just a quick question, you mentioned in another thread

I got there in two years w/ only 1-2 hours a day. Couse I had some technique before a 20-year layoff.

What do you mean by some technique? - Could it be possible to do the same without any further previous knowledge/ technique?
hmm what im trying to say how much technique have you left after 20years layoff??. Dont take this as a provokative question, im only curious, because im new to the piano and it would be nice to have some measurements and goals to aim for  Grin

He suffered finger or hand injury or something after playing for a while am I right?  Which shattered his dream for being a concert pianist.  Anyways I'm not sure thats not why I'm responding.  You need a good teacher, I don't know if you have one already or what, but then you need to practice and practice.  And concentrate, and want it more then anything.  And be willing to do anything for it.  You have to have a passion to play the piano.  If you have good instruction and you have the passion determination and concentration, then being your best should be your goal.  Trying to become as good as someone else in a certain period of time will kill you.  Because there's always someone better.  It took me a while to figure out I'm not going to be the best.  The point is you have to try to be YOUR best.  And to be your best you have to PRACTICE!  But I'm sure your probably don't have the time or patience to practice 6 hours a day to get there.  So just do your best with the time you have and you'll enjoy and good luck to you!   Roll Eyes

Grin  This is one of the best BBS I've ever been privileged to be a part of. Everyone's so nice and sweet! Janus, it's a good question and I couldn't have answered it better than Music Man. In response to what Janus might not have known about me I was at the level of being able to play the Rach 3rd Concerto, though not well enough to perform it in concert. Couriusly enough, I feel better playing now than I did when I was pursuing a career despite of the injury to my R.H. forefinger (that's #2, right?) that hampered me then. I think it's because I don't have the pressures of pursuing a concert schedule so I can pretty much play whatever and whenever I want. That (along w/ careful practice habits) has helped me to accomplish more w/ less time than when I was younger.  But Music Man is right: you are YOU so work at your own "tempo". We are ALL unique in one way or another so we find our strengths and weaknesses in our own good time and through our own means. Whoops! I'm philosophizing.

And Amee.  You do me an honor to mention my site. Do it as often as you like. And thanks!

Wink  Thank you, Chopinetta. I'm grateful for all the publicity I can get. It's a competitive world out there and every itty-bitty(w/ apologies to our Prez Bush) bit helps.
