Melodies and musical genres
on: May 24, 2006, 07:08:29 PM
I am wondering about melodies and musical genres...

Do you beleive that any good melody can be harmonised and arranged in order to sound in any given style?
Or, on the other hand, do you think that melodies are closely related to some particular musical genre?

For instance...The Beatles have some nice melodies.
Do you beleive Beethoven could have composed a good piano sonata or symphony based on them?
Or do you think they are not melodies suitable to be used in classical music?

Of course, i have just mentionned an example, but take the question in a more general sense.
