Contrasting work to Schumann

Hey everybody!

I finally have time to get around to learning the Schumann Sonata no.2 in g minor, op.22.  Can anyone recommend a contrasting work that together with the entire sonata is less than 30 minutes total?  I'd prefer it to not be Romantic, please.

Something more atmospheric and ephemeral.

How bout Gaspard de la Nuit or maybe one of the books of Debussy Images?  I personally prefer book II.

Wonderful works, both, of course - but hardly likely to make a 30-minute-maximum programme along with Schumann's Second Sonata, surely?

Alkan's sonatina? This means that the program will be around 30-35 minutes, but I don' know if it has to be under 30 minutes precisely, or just around that time.

Any of the Chopin ballades would be great.

Oops.  Thought he was asking for a piece <30 min.  Maybe the Debussy Ballade.

bartok sonata #1?

personally, i'd transcribe the oboe and flute parts to schumann's three romances opus 93?  and make them for piano.  why not schumann and schumann?  oh well.
