Enough jokes. I'm interested in this new Kapustin cd, and why it should be disappointing. Is the man growing too old? Please, say it ain't so. After listening to Kapustin himself, i just can't accept any substitutes for his compositions, the majority of which remain unrecorded.

Really, this man is the Scarlatti of our age, he can't be destined to this amount of neglect.

I listened to the whole CD. It's definitely some great playing, and its miraculous even. He made his "Last Recording" album with the notion that he would never play again because of a hand injury, but this disk proves himself and us all wrong by saying that he won't give up. It is still some really great playing. Not all of the compositions knocked me off my feet but I really liked some of them, especially Countermove, which is dedicated to Hamelin (and deservedly so!).

I like Kapustin, his music is very pleasant to listen to. But the second coming of Scarlatti? Errol Garner, maybe.
