Toward the Flame: Boris Petrushansky’s Journey Through Scriabin’s Universe

Alexander Scriabin died in April 1915, at forty-three, of a fever that took him within a week — leaving his great mystical project unfinished. He left behind a piano language no one had spoken before, one that a century later still questions every interpreter who approaches it. Boris Petrushansky has spent a lifetime preparing his answer. In a new album and an extended conversation with Piano Street, he traces Scriabin’s path from the early Preludes to the final, shattering Op. 74. Read more

Cello Piano Duo Pieces
on: February 12, 2004, 09:53:30 AM
Hi,

I am in the process of finding a piece for cello and piano piece that is approximately under 6 minutes, which is going to be assessed at the end of the year.
The requirements are that there must be equal piano and cello parts in the piece.
I have been searching, but the pieces I find are mostly cello dominated!
Anyone got any cello piano duo piece suggestions? Thanks, greatly appreciated.

P.S
one of the criteria asks for interaction between instruments, hope that helps

Movements two and three of Rachamaninoff's cello/piano sonata Op.19 in gminor come in at just a bit over 6 minutes and they are beautiful pieces. :).

any part of brahms' sonatas for cello and piano - especially "chalenging" would be the fugue from the (i think) 1st sonata - must read it, at least. also, the second part is wonderful, and is also very "interactive"
