An absolutely gorgeous piece! I have the music for it now, so I'm going to try to learn it once I finish some of my other pieces.

Thalberg etude op 26 no 5 in B minor.

I know I have posted this etude a month ago but this etude has become my favouite piece and it is so fabulous I think it deserves mention again. Fittingly, the etude is played to an exceptional standard and just about one of a few recordings ever made. Excellent audio quality. IMO it is superior to Chopin and Liszt's best etudes. Seriously, I recommend someone to learn this etude and post it in the audition room. It's a shame not more Thalberg etudes are available on youtube.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Good to see you playing unknown Liszt stuff. It really is a shame the audio quality wasn't up to the standard of your previous videos. I'd rather have good audio quality.

The best Chopin interpreter ever and probably the best rendition of this sonata I've ever heard. The 1st mvt is simply wonderful.

I just discovered this! I've only listened to about a minute so far, but it's sounded so awesome that I thought I had to post it.

And yes, I know a lot of people on here have probably heard this. I just figured I might share it for those who haven't.

Have you heard of his 9th sonata "black mass"?  Very terrifying as well!

I like the Thunder that he made, but I wish he would stick to Liszt  of rhythm, more closely and make sure that the correct melodic nuts play.  Thrashy noise comes out better when it has some momentum and structure to it.

One of my favourite Scriabin pieces.  I'm very glad you did post it because I have not heard that particular recording before.

really nice to see an orchestrated (piano plus orchestra) version of this theme. Hamauzu is in my top three Japanese composers list and I'm working a solo version of this just for fun, so i got a big kick out of this recent upload (i think went up a few days ago)

This guy does lots of Piano arrangements of Monster Hunter musics, his MH3 main theme is probably my favorite~

Currently learning -

- Bach: P&F in F Minor (WTC 2)
- Chopin: Etude, Op. 25, No. 5
- Beethoven: Sonata, Op. 31, No. 3
- Scriabin: Two Poems, Op. 32
- Debussy: Prelude Bk II No. 3

his sonata is pretty great too. i went to an undergrad senior recital a few days ago and he played an all sonata program (the kid was incredible), the vine sonata blew me away and was my favorite of the program.

oh dear sweet heavens! this is so sultry and beautiful

from another yt video of this etude (musicology and history story/remarks remains to be confirmed)
A little background on this etude:

Bortkiewicz's lifelong friend, Hugo van Dalen, the Dutch pianist and composer (1888-1967) told him that it was through his playing of the Etude Op. 15, No. 8 that he had met his wife. She liked the piece so much that she came up to van Dalen to ask the composer's name. This acquaintance led to their marriage, as a result of which Bortkiewicz unofficially named this etude the Verlobungsetude or Betrothal etude.
