Can someone give some info on how to play this section of the scherzo n2. I have been practicing it for a few hours and my right hand is starting to hurt. anyway.. What would the correct fingering be? I have been using: 5 4321 and then 4321 321

any other advice also welcome

Thats the fingering I would use, yes. Seems to fit the hand quite snuggly.

Do you have particularly small hands by any chance?

Ok I'm getting it now. At first it just didn't feel "right".

My hands are about average sized I think.

Try playing the notes as a solid chord. This usually gives me an idea of which fingering is most comfortable.

hi!

Im playing this piece too. I would use 3-54321 and 4321 321. :) Try to practise with lifted finger, rythmic variations etc. and then when you play it, try to "imagine" that you are slowing down, at the 3 last notes.

I think your fingering is good- however, obviously you don't want to be experiencing pain when playing. It's impossible to tell why that may be without hearing or seeing your playing, but try the fingering of the previous poster. It's possible that trying to play an accented fortissimo note with the fifth finger is causing you strain in your hand. Try starting it with a 3, or even a 1 and 3 (which helps you relax and use weight instead of tension) and then switch to 5 before you start the run. You have lots of time to do that!
