My Day---Improv
on: June 25, 2007, 07:01:02 PM
This is an attempt to express through music what happens within myself during a "pretty normal day" of my life. Only once in a while I really can express it through an improv like this one. During all the other days things just happen....  ;D

I like the beginning and the first half, Wolfi. You make good use of slow, clockwork rhythm and sparse harmony to produce an effectively ominous effect. I don't know about the impressionistic title though. Is your day really that menacing and sinister ?

I think this might be the last or one of the last improvs in my "phase 2", the phase after "Styx" (Feb. 3 until now)  I feel like a bit stuck in this style at the time.  Time for a break.

Not always, fortunately. Often it's better. Sometimes worse though. But these menacing days have very interesting aspects, I think, sometimes. I practice how to cope with them. Like many of my improvs this one is in a great tension between B flat minor and D flat major, "darkness" and "light" to me.

Cheers :)
