Mendelssohn's Etude Op. 104b No. 3

I've started to play this piece and, accordingly so, I got a recording (Horowitz's). As I listened to the piece while following along with the score it just bedazzled me how quickly the left hand must play while jumping relatively far. There are almost only sixteenth notes in the left hand throughout the piece and, at many points, the left hand must reach more than an octave. Now, I have big hands (I reach an 11th) but even this seems quite difficult for me. Is there any technique I can use to pull this off quickly and accurately? Thank you.
