Yes, a rather tasteless picture.  All it's trying to say is the she is the master in the art of making music on the piano.
What's most noticeable about this photograph is the missing bit of ivory or substitute thereof on the top F of the keyboard; I wonder what happened to it?

Alistair

Well spotted.  Must have fallen off after some heavy action.

i suppose i should have gone with another one but that one had a piano so i was like meh...interestingly they weren't pushing the sex as much with her early on but definately when her bikini and lingerie modeling and lad mag shoots hit it's been that way since (she's an FHM girl too i def won't post those but you can google image that stuff if anyone's so inclinded..), now she's doing all sorts ofendoresments in the UK (nails, she's Pantene ProVs new face, clohtes, etc) . i'll promptly remove the quesionable phot of her.

So, normality means a homely, relatively not-so-attractive-looking woman?
I don't think she's (Brenda Lucas Ogden) homely at all.  It's her hair style that's a little unflattering.  What I see in all these other hi-tech and, yes, touched up photos, is marketing, marketing, marketing.

I might be in the minority, but that picture of Brenda to me shows a more attractive woman than all of the painted stick insects so far shown in this thread and by some margin.

Even if so, what recommendation is that? (and, for the avoidance of doubt, I agree with you about the photoshopped/airbrushed creatures of whom at least some could arguably do with a brief burst of spray stick insecticide)...

To readress the balance somewhat, let's consider someone more classic, more English:

For those of you who may not know, Brenda Lucas Ogdon is John Ogdon's widow.  She is a concert pianist herself and an active teacher.  She was also Mr Ogdon's duo partner and has recorded much of his music.

Did she have any kids with John?

I don't know either.  You may find some information by reading Mr Ogdon's biography Virtuoso, which she coauthored.

I first heard of her from watching a BBC charity reality show.  She seemed a very pleasant person.  Rather sad that she decided to market herself through compromising photos.

Am I in the wrong room? Is this a thread FOR MEN only?

If I can vote for an attractive male pianist, my vote goes to Freddy Kempf. Does anyone else think he is cute?

Not at all.  The first nominee is actually Vladimir Ashkenazy.

I don´t think that people would have considered them very goodlooking today, many of the greatest pianostars in the past have been pretty bad looking by todays standards like Rachmaninov, Horowitz, Godowsky, Rubinstein and even Liszt.

These days we have Kissin, Andsnes, Pogorelich and Peter Jablonski.

Lang Land can also be considered very good looking if you like the Asian look.

WHY is it so important these days for a female musician, esp. violinists, to have a photograph of themselves on whatever cover or poster that looks like ti has been shot for Playboy? The capacity to undulate accross the picture is not what playing whatever they play is about!

Not that I object to a nice and good photograph; the one of Grimaud here looks quite good indeed (as does she). But I have heard too many performances of 'cute' or whatever performers that jarred my ears to care much what the performer looks like. I am going to a concert to bathe my ears, not my eyes (barring opera).

all best,
gep
In the long run, any words about music are less important than the music. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not worth talking to (Shostakovich)

I would not be surprised if that is true.  Quite apart from the fact that people are often multitalented, it would only be a natural continuation of a long Japanese tradition.  Geishas were, inter alia, experts in making music.

so funny!

well at least this one is on board with a reputable art music label, she also has some Chopin etude and prelude albums and an impressionistic  Debussy , Ravel maybe?)one too but i havent' been able to find any free recordings yet just her collaborative stuff on Elgar works for violin and piano. even so, she is very pretty.

I think that you're right about female violinists being especially affected (afflicted?), the perhaps ironcial aspect of this is that some of them are really fine musicians and splendid players too - Hahn, Benedetti, Ibragimova...
