Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique on piano
on: November 01, 2004, 11:45:12 PM
I seem to be obsessed with this. I'm trying to collect all the recordings of the Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz on piano. As far as I know, these are all the extant studio recordings I could find mention of, a "*" means I own it on CD.

Bruno Mezzena 1976
Idil Biret 1979
*Francois-Rene Duchable 1979
*Leslie Howard 1991
*Idil Biret 1992
*Pierre Reach 1993
*Nikolai Pertov 1995
*Todd Crow (2001)

I am having a rough time finding the first two on the above list, and was wondering if anyone out there knew where I could find them?

Also, if anyone knows of the existence of another piano score (solo or duet) besides Liszt's, that would be awesome too. I read somewhere that Otto Singer arranged the work for solo piano, but all I have from him are duet versions of the second and fourth movements (A Ball, March to the Scaffold.)

I'm working on re-arranging it myself, if anyone's interested I could send them an mp3 of my March to the Scaffold (beware: I'm not a good pianist, but I have fun.)
