tempo on Medelssohn's G-minor

I'm talking about the first movement of this concerto. I have it comfortably at 120-125 bpm in the middle arpeggio part (the other sections are easy), but is this too slow for the melody (carried by the orchestra in the middle section) to come out? The movement is marked Molto Allegro con Fuoco, btw.
