Anybody here eat seaweed?

Iodine.  That seems to be the big benefit.

One site says 34x the potassium of bananas.  Uh oh for PS here....

And some good vitamins, but not that drastic of an effect.

Anyone here eat it for health reasons?  It doesn't taste bad at all.

I saw they rolled sushi in it.  What kind of seaweed do they use for that?  Is that crispy like the dried out boxed seaweed?

they use nori which is the Japanese name for edible seaweed species of the red algae genus Porphyra, including P. yezoensis and P. tenera.  its made by a shredding and rack-drying process that resembles papermaking.  they come in thin sheets.

I've found little containers for under $1 and then a small jar of dried sheets.  Is there a way to buy more of it....?  Actually I remember buying something larger in the past, and that stuff wasn't nearly as salty.

How do they prep it for sushi?  Add water?  Or leave it as a dried sheet?

they leave it as a dry sheet.  to make maki sushi, which is the roll sushi (nigiri is the small piece of fish over rice) they start with a sheet of the seaweed.  they then put a thin layer of rice on top of the seawood so it covers the entire surface of the seawood from corner to corner.  then at the very top you add whatever you want in your sushi in a single row.  for example, thin rods of cucumber, some avocado, and crabmeat.  you then use those bamboo sheets to roll it from top to bottom, cut into portions, and then you have a california roll.

I believe Kelp is really nutritious and a great source of iodine.  I've taken it before and could tell a difference in well-being.

I've tasted cat food as well, and it really does not taste good at all, so can't recommend it.

Dog food on the other hand can be very tasty, I used to eat it all the time as a kid  ;D

Would I feed something to my precious cats without trying it out myself first? And of course I am a grazy cat lady  ;D

Seriously, I was curious many many years ago if dry cat food tastes like dry dog food, which often tastes like dry bread. It didn't, it has a very disctinct and unpleasant taste...

You can get in pill form, health food store or the net.  That's how I took it.

Curiosity. Same with turtle food they taste fainty like fish. Kinda like soaking a sardine in a glass of water

An inch of Kombu in your stew will give it body and flavour.  Rice balls (rice wrapped in Nori) are a great snack for work.
