The Meaning of our Names
on: August 05, 2015, 09:13:18 PM
Hey all, I thought this would be a good way for me to get to know some of you with a simple question.

So, what does your screen name mean and why did you choose it?

Mine is simply my name, but the numbers represent the 9 Beethoven Symphonies, 32 Beethoven Sonatas and 48 Preludes and Fugues of Bach's WTC.

Alternatively, if you want to add something about your real name, go ahead :)

Mine is my name plus the model number of my first professional grade trombone, the Bach 42B, still one of the most respected symphonic horns though other brands have some of the market now.

My one is just my name lol.. I usually add a number or something because my name alone is usually taken. But this time it wasn't!

I was looking for a generic name and was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't already in use.

Ted is my name. Upper case had a brief period of not working with user names, around the time of the change to Pianostreet as I recall, hence the lower case "t".

"Goldentone" is derived from a lost German dialect, meaning 'golden souled'.  I am proud of my golden heritage.

        Warning! Incoming Frivolous Missive!:
I wanted something short:  't&v' .. but got its opposite.. (cuz for some reason it wouldn't accept "&". >:(  And since  TandV  didn't work for me, I ended up writing it out.:(  )
So, (tips cowboy hat)  just call me 'theme'  ;)

Very interesting everybody :)

And I'm sorry if I sort of re-christened you uh... Theme, it just seemed a logical shortening...

Mine is from the Greek composer Iannis Xenekis's piano work Evryali don't know if any of you have ever listened to it. Its a very interesting piece which requires the player to change certain notes to create there own Unique interpretation.

I looked up evryali....... It's a nice name, phonetically. That's about all I liked about it haha, sorry evryali. The idea of performers choosing notes is cool though, I have thought about doing stuff like that in my own compositions actually.

Haha, thanks everyali, but don't look forward to them too much, I'm just a basic beginner really. I'm working on a classical style sonatina at the moment, perhaps you'd be interested, perhaps not. It'll be ready in about a month I think. I don't plan on doing the "choice of notes" thing anytime soon though, as I don't have any realistic ideas at present that would be good for it, unless you were to commission me to write something haha ;)

Your username was one of the ones I started this thread for haha. By the way, do you mind me calling you Noah? I should've asked first but I found out early on when I looked at your videos...
