Am I reading this right?
on: October 17, 2015, 06:42:32 PM
I was reading a book for a class and it was like Chopin married a girl named George Sand.

That's a manly ass name.  OR was Chopin actually was actually gay and he married a dude but the author just made a typo and said he was a she?

But I don't think gay people could get married back then.

Or does his wife really just have a manly ass name.

Gosh you guys are so rude..

Hi rachmaninoff_forever,

George Sand was actually the pen name of the French author Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin. Back then, Female writers often used male pen names because they would make more money from publishers, who paid men more than women. Chopin and Sand never actually married, but they did live together for quite an extended period of time. Around ten years I believe.

What an ignorant and insulting pointless comment.

The way in which this has been worded is completely unnecessary. at 4000 odd posts I cannot completely conclude your motive, maybe trolling is the only thing you will expertise in.

The question has been answered, however I find it almost impossible to believe that a book that so details Chopin's affairs would not include information about George Sand's name.

What book may I ask are you referring too?
